---About Rita

“Being a Christ follower throughout my life has been quite the journey.  He’s taken me through deep waters and trials that have tested me over the years.  I have fallen so many times, and He’s always been there to lift me back up on my feet.  Through a series of broken relationships, I finally figured out what was important to me, putting God first and letting Him lead me.  I love writing and learning, and growing with God.  I have a beautiful, adult daughter that I love spending time with whenever I can.  My hope is to be a tool for God to use to lead others to Him”.

Reflections

When I look back on my life I can see all the highs and lows. I can see all the bad decisions and mistakes I made. Looking back, as teenagers and twenty somethings, you would think that’s when most people make the majority of their mistakes and have to learn some hard lessons. Not me, although I did make a few, it wasn’t until later in life that I made my life-altering mistakes. Getting older doesn’t mean we quit making mistakes, but we are supposed to learn from them and move forward. When I look at every bad choice I made, I can also take each one of them and see where God’s hand was in them. He lets us make those choices, but He knows how much we can handle. I discovered a long time ago that God is in control,

Inspired

Writing, journaling, blogging, it all helps me to stay focused on God. It helps me to remember things that are important to me. For me, writing helps me to stay connected with my thoughts. Maybe like a lot of you (or it could just be me), I don’t have a great memory. Writing nourishes my relationship with God. It teaches me to remember, to research, to think, to study, and to learn. I’ve often wondered where I fit into God’s plan. I’ve often felt lost and out of place. Surrounding myself with people that love God has helped me to find purpose. They’ve

On My Own

Many times we think we have all the answers. We don’t need someone else’s input because we think we know better. Often times mistakes happen when we shut others out and we don’t seek the advice we need. Going through life is tough enough without isolating from everyone. We all need people to lean on, especially in times of crisis. We need others to help cheer us up when we’re down. When times are rough, we need people to lift us up, to give us support, to say they love us. I think I can safely say that a lot of us have bad days. We may be whiny

Sidetracked

When we stop and think about it, there are so many distractions in life that sidetrack us from spending time with God. We have news and entertainment right at our fingertips. We become obsessed with our favorite television shows to the point of them invading our minds throughout the day. We stay up late and then drag ourselves into work because we can’t miss the latest episodes. There’s all kinds of activities we get caught up in. We can start out with good intentions trying to stay focused on God, but then life’s distractions take over. We start finding that we have little or no time to spend just being alone with our Savior. So many

Daily Bread (Bible Study Kickoff)

When I go to church on Sunday morning, I look forward to spending time with my bible study group and also with the rest of my church family. I learn from the bible studies that we do and I learn from the weekly sermons. A lot of study and preparation goes into the teaching that we receive. I feel very blessed to have wonderful teachers and leaders that put in all of that hard work to teach us what God wants us to know. We have weekly bulletins to help guide us and to take notes. We can even do it on our church app right on our cell phone, which is very convenient. We carry our phones right in our back pocket anyway, where we can

Breaking Down Walls (EASTER)

Working around construction and watching walls being torn down and new things being built in their place is exciting. It’s interesting when you think about it. Walls that have been there for so many years, all of a sudden come crashing down. Breaking down walls may seem like a daunting task to accomplish, but with the right leaders in charge and the proper tools being used, it becomes a success. A new day is dawning, getting rid of what doesn’t work anymore

Needing Others

Going through life thinking we can do things on our own without help from others is never a good good choice to make. We definitely need people in our lives to help guide us, teach us, strengthen us, and love us. Having people that we can count on to shine a light in our lives and let us know that we matter is good medicine for the heart. Having a circle of friends, whether it’s family or not, that you can lean on just helps your life run smoother. Sometimes we just need someone to talk to, someone who will listen and lead us in the right direction.

Here Comes the Sun

“Here Comes The Sun” is an old “Beatles” song. It was part of the graduation video that was made for my daughter when she got out high school. The song is to remind us to let the sun rise everyday in our hearts. So whenever I have the opportunity to hear that song, I think of her. God gives us a brand new opportunity each day to let the sun shine in our hearts.

Stand Up

Each day that God allows us to have is another day full of different challenges. Our days are consumed by “to do” lists. Whether we work outside of the home, parents at home raising children, or someone that is retired, we all have schedules to keep.

Throughout our busy schedules we come into contact with so many different beliefs and attitudes. We’re supposed to stand strong for what we believe in. As a Christian I stand up for

Laughter

It feels so good to laugh sometimes. Things can get tiresome and hectic through the week and we all need to take a break and find something that makes us smile and laugh. Whether it’s going to see a funny movie (which I just did a couple of days ago), laughing at a funny, but wholesome joke, or sharing good times and laughing with friends and family. Laughing and having fun is healthy and good for the soul. Proverbs 17:22- “A joyful heart is good medicine.”

Laughing helps us to cope with all kinds of struggles. We all experience bad days. Having someone around us to lighten our mood and make us feel better is a good thing. God gave us
