Winds of Change

I’ve experienced it many times.  Change.  This change usually occurs when God wants to close a door – so what does He do? He closes the door. Have you been in this situation before?  Where God just closes a door (and most likely it was a door you thought you wanted to walk through)?  We all know how it feels to continue going through life comfortable.  Or even if we’re not entirely “comfortable”, we will stay somewhere just because we’re not fond of change.  We’ll settle for mediocrity, when God didn’t intend for us to “settle” for that.  So, when that door closes, and a “shake-up” happens, we don’t know what to do.  We sometimes become scared and upset and wonder why this is happening to us.  Or – we thought we were relying on God during seasons of our lives, but looking back – we see that we just wanted to be in “control”.  I fully believe that God intended hardships in my life to bring me closer to Him.  I’m thankful that God may actually use my hardships to bring others closer to Him as well (I hope that’s the case!). I know, however, that I can only be responsible for my journey, and I know that I intend to serve and praise God for my trials, as they’re bringing me closer to Him.

We have to realize, however, that the wind that we feel blowing our lives upside down could actually be the wind that is propelling us forward into the divine destiny that God has chosen for us.  We can’t move forward if we’re “stuck”.  (I’ve been stuck).  We can’t move forward if we’re not being our true selves (been there, done that).  God truly wants the best for us.  He will many times give us an assignment without giving us the “answer key”, but He will put things in our hearts, and people in our lives to help us move forward where we are supposed to be so we can finish that assignment successfully.  God’s favor is always  there – we may not see it, we may not feel like something is on the horizon, but we have to know that God is moving behind the scenes.  I love the song “God is on the Move” by 7eventh Time Down (you should find it and listen to it on your music streaming app, or YouTube).  This song always uplifts me and reminds me that God is still moving.  Always.  We may not feel it, but we have to KNOW and EXPECT that God is constantly working in our favor to bring us to the destiny He has planned for our lives.

“As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings”.- Deuteronomy 32:11 NKJV

God does the same for us.  You are exactly where God wants you to be right now in your life, so let Him carry you.  Whether in a happy season, or in a season of doubt, God has you there for a reason.  Embrace every season that the Lord provides for you, as all of it works together for the good and toward fulfilling your destiny.  We all go through good times and bad – change is inevitable, and God allows it to happen.  We just have to know that the hard seasons we go through will not last forever.  We just have to wait on the Lord to provide our “next steps”.

Finally – our end goal on this earth is to remember that God is the One we are striving for, and it’s in our heavenly home that we should have a hope.  This world and this life is fleeting.  Although it can be hard sometimes, we have to remember that we aren’t home yet – we are just passing through this life and we have to be reminded of that when trials come our way.  This is just God’s way of stretching and molding us and making us realize that we need Him more than ever.  (We do!).  We may be frustrated, upset or even angry over situations, but once we surrender it all to Him, that’s when He will begin His best work in our lives.

“And it is good for people to submit at an early age to the yoke of His discipline: Let them sit alone in silence beneath the LORD’s demands.  Let them lie face down in the dust, for there may be hope at last.”  – Lamentations 3:27-29 NLT

Surrender it… watch… and be amazed…
