Youth Group Director Job Posting
JOB DESCRIPTION
The primary responsibilities of the Youth Group Director will be to use his/her personal gifts and skills to reach, disciple, and train the students (6th-12th grades) of Oakwood Church. To train and empower other leaders to serve in order to build a healthy and vibrant youth ministry. To partner with parents in helping them to build strong relationships with their teens, so that they might help raise them in following CHRIST.
JOB DUTIES
- Carrying out the vision, values, and mission of Oakwood Church.
- Training, equipping, and teaching our students how to win and affect the teens around them.
- Endeavor to minster to the “whole person” (i.e. parents, siblings, etc.) with the goal of winning teens’ parents and family to CHRIST and helping the unchurched find a church home at Oakwood.
- Overseeing Midweek youth program for 6th-12th grades.
- Maintaining weekly relationships with students and leaders.
- Attending monthly sporting events, band concerts, and student activities in local schools.
- Planning and executing student events.
- Overseeing student small groups.
- Encouraging and coming alongside parents in the process of discipling their youth.
- Communicating plans with staff, youth, and parents in a responsible, clear, and timely manner.
- Performing various administrative duties (including previewing Bible curriculum and consulting with pastors, ordering necessary materials in a timely manner making sure volunteer small group leaders have their materials well in advance to familiarize themselves with the lesson and talking points).
- Attending all services and being an outreach for new students and their families.
- Attending all churchwide fellowships in order to build rapport with Oakwood church family.
- Being accessible to offer care and counseling to youth.
- Must continue to grow and participate in continuing education (e.g. conferences, seminars, etc.).
ACCOUNTABILITY
- The Youth Director will report to the Elders of Oakwood, made up of Pastors, and will be supervised by Pastor Frank Radcliff. Also, the Elders will perform an evaluation every 6 months for the first two years, and once a year, thereafter.
- Youth Director will keep a log of phone calls, in-person visits, and outreach efforts each week.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A clear and growing relationship with CHRIST.
- An understanding and desire to adhere to the beliefs, values, and mission of Oakwood Church (What is our stance on: homosexuality, diversity, equity, and inclusion, CRT, trans ideology?).
- A personable and leader’s heart.
- Would like the individual to at least have a bachelor’s degree from a reputable Bible College, but is not required.
- A proven ability to work effectively with youth, volunteers, parents, and staff.
- Above average oral and written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- A lifestyle of tithing.
- An understanding of GOD’s Word.
- A good name in his/her community – with prior employers, pastors, professors, and friends.
- Ability to relocate to Saline, MI 48176 or surrounding area.
JOB TYPE
Full-time or as a Youth Ministry Internship.
PAY
$35,000 – $50,000 per year
EXPERIENCE
- Would like the individual to have had at least 2 years of experience in youth work, but is not absolutely required. (This can have taken place during college).
- Oakwood would also be willing to have a conversation with an individual doing a youth ministry internship from a reputable school.
