Flesh vs. Spirit

We’re only human, right? We’re allowed to get upset and throw temper tantrums. It wasn’t our fault to begin with, and the other person should have known better. We battle constantly with our desire to control things that are out of our control. When we don’t get our way, we start to find fault in others and in the way everything turned out. We often let our emotions get the best of us. Our emotions are what can get us in trouble. When we give control to our selfish desire to have things our way, we end up in a battle that we never win. That’s when Satan can get his hooks in us. He will do his best to continue to drag us down if we don’t get a grip and stand firm with Christ.

James 1:19-20 NASB- This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

When we are led by the Holy Spirit, and not our human emotions, we are able to see things differently. We are able to make clearer choices. We can work things out easier because we give up our desire to be in control. Understanding that God is in control and just surrendering our problems to Him gives much needed relief to our sanity. We are able to rest knowing that He is handling our situation and He always has our best interest in the works.

Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV- Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

About Rita:
Being a Christ follower throughout my life has been quite the journey.  He’s taken me through deep waters and trials that have tested me over the years.  I have fallen so many times, and He’s always been there to lift me back up on my feet.  Through a series of broken relationships, I finally figured out what was important to me, putting God first and letting Him lead me.  I love writing and learning, and growing with God.  I have a beautiful, adult daughter that I love spending time with whenever I can.  My hope is to be a tool for God to use to lead others to Him.
