Inspirational Women

I am very blessed to be surrounded by so many inspirational women. My mom has always inspired me with her amazing strength. So many times I never realized it, I took it for granted, but she was my rock when I was growing up. She continues to this day to exhibit focus and direction for me. My sister, Kathy, without even knowing it, inspires me to find strength in myself. She shows me that I am stronger than I realize. When I can’t figure things out, she’s always there to help me out, though I can be frustrating at times, she helps me. Kristina, my daughter, gave me courage and strength to stay the course, to keep going, to focus on what is important, to stay focused on my faith in God. I’ve made so many mistakes, but God has given me all of this support, and He’s never wavered. Never left my side. Among many inspirational women in Scripture, the most treasured is Mary, mother of Jesus.

Luke 1:34-35 ESV- And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin? And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy–the Son of God. There are so many examples of how God uses the ordinary to do the extraordinary.

There are countless women in Scripture to draw inspiration on how to live a life for God. Mary of Bethany, (Mary and Martha), understands the importance of putting Jesus first. She lets nothing distract her from God. While she was very attentive and listening at His feet to everything He was saying, Martha was occupied doing other things that distracted her from listening to Jesus’ teaching.

Luke 10:38-42 ESV- Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to His teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

About Rita:
Being a Christ follower throughout my life has been quite the journey.  He’s taken me through deep waters and trials that have tested me over the years.  I have fallen so many times, and He’s always been there to lift me back up on my feet.  Through a series of broken relationships, I finally figured out what was important to me, putting God first and letting Him lead me.  I love writing and learning, and growing with God.  I have a beautiful, adult daughter that I love spending time with whenever I can.  My hope is to be a tool for God to use to lead others to Him.
