My Story

We are all here for a reason. There’s a story inside our lives. There are special, unique circumstances that make us who we are. Things we experience throughout our lives determine the paths we take. All of us make mistakes, nobody is immune to that. We can choose to learn from our mistakes and move forward, or we can choose not to. When we choose to move forward, God opens doors that we have kicked closed. Sometimes God leads us on a journey to teach us to depend on Him.  When we are so stubborn and determined because we think we know everything, that’s when we fall. We have to stop and listen to God. Sometimes it may take years for us to understand what God is leading us to, but when we slow down and really listen to His voice inside our hearts, we succeed.

My personal journey to God took me through some deep valleys. Through failed relationships, there was a lot of emotional growth. I was very stubborn, and refused to open my eyes to see that there was something better. I shut people out that loved me, and most importantly, I shut God out. When I was at the lowest level I could sink (in my case, meaning I was about to lose everything I loved and everyone I loved), God pulled me out. He guided me on a new path, and showed me a deeper meaning to life. He placed so many wonderful people in my life who guided me and gave me encouragement. With the love of my family and friends, my life is so different today. I don’t value myself based on an unhealthy relationship. I value myself based on my relationship with God. He loves unconditionally. He knows my heart and He knows my struggles. When I finally realized my need for Him in my life, everything changed. He guides my steps and leads me through the valley to the light shining at the other end.

So the challenges you have today don’t have to define who you are. God knows what you’re dealing with and He wants to lead you. When you’re at the bottom and you can’t see a way out, look up and hold on to God. He will take hold of your heart, He will never disappoint and He will never let go. My dependence on God is what brings me through every day of my life. Without His love, support, and guidance, my life would’ve taken a very different turn. I am blessed to be His child!

For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the One who helps you.”

Psalm 121:1-2 ESV
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

When I thought, “My foot slips,” Your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
