Running on Empty

After making it through a very long week, we can feel exhausted and like we’re running on empty. Sometimes it can feel like we just want to sleep for the next forty-eight hours. But regardless of our tiring work weeks, we still have things to do. We have family, church, different activities and obligations we have to meet. Whatever it is that we think we don’t have the strength for, God does have the strength for it. Every time we feel like we don’t have the energy to do anything else, He pulls us through it and we accomplish what we thought we couldn’t. He provides strength, endurance, courage, and perseverance.

With Thanksgiving just a few weeks away and Christmas time in the air, it’s the most beautiful season because we celebrate family and friends, and the most wonderful part of all of it is that we celebrate the birth of our Savior. Although it’s a beautiful time of year, it can also drain us of our energy and change our excitement into depression and dread. It’s so important to keep our focus on God. Our worldly desires and expectations can rob us of the fullness of what God desires for us.

The work weeks may be long, but I know God sustains me. Our bodies definitely need rest. Getting enough rest and fueling our bodies and minds with the desires of God is the best remedy for success. He’s got a beautiful plan in place for us. Even if I feel drained and running on empty, I trust in God to be in control and keep my eyes turned towards Him.

Colossians 1:29 ESV
For this I toil, struggling with all His energy that He powerfully works within me.

Psalm 68:35 ESV
Awesome is God from His sanctuary; the God of Israel; He is the one who gives power and strength to His people. Blessed be God.

Psalm 62:5 ESV
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him.

Have a blessed day!!!
