Staying on Course

Sometimes it’s difficult to stay on track. Things happen that throw us off our game. We can make plans to do something and have it all set to go, and then something happens to sidetrack us. We have to figure out a different plan of action. Yesterday, I was really trying to enjoy my little nephew’s birthday party, while dealing with some physical pain. Everybody had a great time and seeing his little smile made everything just right. Taking the focus off the pain we may be feeling helps for a little while, but afterwards we have to remedy our pain.

God already knows what we are feeling, He wants to comfort us. He understands our physical pain. Jesus is the ultimate victor when it comes to staying the course. He suffered tremendous physical pain so that we wouldn’t have to suffer the consequences for our sin. 1 Peter 2:24- “He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.” The pain that we may be feeling can seem overwhelming to us, but it only lasts a little while. It’s nothing when we put it in context with what Jesus went through for us.

Romans 8:18 ESV
For I consider the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Job 6:10 ESV
This would be my comfort; I would even exult in pain unsparing, for I have not denied the words of the Holy One.

Psalm 69:29 ESV
But I am afflicted and in pain; let Your salvation, O God, set me on high!
