Not What I Had Planned

I recently saw a photo online of the Mississippi River and the various paths it has taken over the course of its existence. Did you know the Mississippi River is a dynamic and changing river? Its course has already changed numerous times and will eventually change again.* It has jumped back and forth and winded this way and that way, and there were so many paths along the way, at one point, to keep it steady and on the same path. they simply built walls around it. The boundaries were set. It’s not moving again. But even after the Read more…

Unique

It’s hard to imagine with the billions of people in this world, that we’re all very different from one another. Not one of us are the same. How amazing is that? Our Lord is unchanging. Hebrews 13:8 – “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever.” When I think about God creating us specifically to share in all of His glory, how blessed are we? Only He knows each and every heart, He knows each and everyone of us inside out. If we ever think God isn’t paying attention, or He can’t understand us, we’re wrong. He knows what’s Read more…

No Pain, No Gain

“You yourselves know, dear brothers and sisters, that our visit to you was not a failure. You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to declare His Good News to you boldly, in spite of great opposition. So you can see we were not preaching with any deceit or impure motives or trickery.” 1 Thessalonians 2:1-3 NLT

Prayer

In my life, prayer is so essential. Without my time with God in the morning, I feel lost for the rest of the day. I look at each day as a new opportunity to learn something new. I ask God to surround the people I love. Whatever His plan is for them, I ask Him to hold them close and take care of them as only He can do. I ask Him to lead me and to give me the strength I need to do what honors Him. Through every aspect of my day, whether at home or at work or somewhere in the middle, I need Him. Prayer helps me to stay calm, it helps Read more…

Knowing Your Value

So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, Who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. He chose to give birth to us by giving us His true word. And we, out of all creation, became His prized possession. James 1:16-18

This life we are given is so precious. I think about my life. There are moments of happiness and where things have gone well. There are other moments of sadness and grief. There are achievements and Read more…

Is Your Tank on E?

Like me, do you ever get weary in spirit?  It’s nearly debilitating.  Have you done this?  You just feel like a deflated balloon at times?  Always tired and just general feelings of exhaustion?  Do you ever end up with your own tank on empty just trying to fill everyone else’s tanks?

There comes times in our lives where we need to recharge ourselves.  We can do so much for others that we wear ourselves down to the point where we have nothing left to give. I will be the first to say that things are NOT Read more…

How is God using You?

Do you ever wonder about your stronghold? Your place of security. What are you good at doing? What has God created you to do in this life? What kind of talents and strengths has He given you. Have you ever really thought about it? Or have you just went along with the crowd? Is there a purpose for me? Is there a purpose for you? Of course there is. God purposely created each and every one of us. His plan was in action long before we came into this world. He designed each of us with a specific purpose. A purpose to honor Read more…

Let It Shine

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in Him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7

My birthday was last week. It had been a difficult week as the TR (my work) family had a tragedy in losing a coworker. It affected me differently than other losses because the older you get, you realize how much more you appreciate life. So, when a life comes to an end tragically, your heart aches a little more than other times. Read more…

God Will Find Us

I was driving this morning, listening to The Message on Sirius XM and the DJ said something that hit me really quickly.. and somewhat hard. Of course, this isn’t a new thought, but it’s just amazing how God will let you hear something again and it just hits you differently this time – kind of like a ton of bricks. I think as we experience life and we go through things, when we hear something again, we have a different perspective and different circumstances in which to apply it.

This is what he said: “As children of God, we can’t run far because He has a way of finding us”. Read more…

Church is Important

Church is very important in my life. I am involved with a family of believers that know the importance of staying connected with Christ and with people. We form strong bonds as we become closer and closer to Jesus Christ, the one true King. It becomes so easy to push church aside and make excuses. We can let other things get in the way of making a true commitment to be involved in church. Things such as, “sporting events, “I’m too tired, “I had a long week, or, “it’s my only day for fun.” Christ provides everything for us. Read more…
