Like me, do you ever get weary in spirit? It’s nearly debilitating. Have you done this? You just feel like a deflated balloon at times? Always tired and just general feelings of exhaustion? Do you ever end up with your own tank on empty just trying to fill everyone else’s tanks?

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in Him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7
My birthday was last week. It had been a difficult week as the TR (my work) family had a tragedy in losing a coworker. It affected me differently than other losses because the older you get, you realize how much more you appreciate life. So, when a life comes to an end tragically, your heart aches a little more than other times.

Church is Important

Church is very important in my life. I am involved with a family of believers that know the importance of staying connected with Christ and with people. We form strong bonds as we become closer and closer to Jesus Christ, the one true King. It becomes so easy to push church aside and make excuses. We can let other things get in the way of making a true commitment to be involved in church. Things such as, “sporting events, “I’m too tired, “I had a long week, or, “it’s my only day for fun.” Christ provides everything for us.

I was driving this morning, listening to The Message on Sirius XM and the DJ said something that hit me really quickly.. and somewhat hard. Of course, this isn’t a new thought, but it’s just amazing how God will let you hear something again and it just hits you differently this time – kind of like a ton of bricks. I think as we experience life and we go through things, when we hear something again, we have a different perspective and different circumstances in which to apply it.
This is what he said: “As children of God, we can’t run far because He has a way of finding us”.

I remember in Bible Study a few months ago we were studying Job. Although Job went through some horrific times that we can’t even imagine, God did restore the blessings in Job’s life. Job just had to continue to endure and trust. Yes, there were times that Job was upset and got frustrated, but he continued to trust our Almighty God with his life and trusted that God was going to get him through.

Sometimes we can begin to question ourselves in situations where we think we should have said something, but didn’t. I didn’t say something, and maybe I should have. Was it a missed opportunity. God wanted to use me in this situation, and I blew it. How can I make it right? What can I do? I don’t want to disappoint God. Slow down!!! God gives us what we need when we need it. In Bible Study this week, we’re studying the power of prayer. Man, I sure do need a reminder about that subject. As unexpected things happen with people in my life that I care about, it’s sometimes so disheartening and stressful that I completely forget to pray. As many of you know (either from my blogs or personally), I’m one of those “Let me help!” kind of people. So, when things go awry, what is my first line of defense? “Let me help! How can I help? What can I do to help fix this?”. The answers to these are “No”, “You can’t” and “Nothing”.
