---About Rita

“Being a Christ follower throughout my life has been quite the journey.  He’s taken me through deep waters and trials that have tested me over the years.  I have fallen so many times, and He’s always been there to lift me back up on my feet.  Through a series of broken relationships, I finally figured out what was important to me, putting God first and letting Him lead me.  I love writing and learning, and growing with God.  I have a beautiful, adult daughter that I love spending time with whenever I can.  My hope is to be a tool for God to use to lead others to Him”.

Craving God’s Word

There was a time when I would get up and go, start the day with routine stuff and not even think twice about God, or what He was doing in my life. So often life gets away from us and we forget about His presence in our lives. Raising kids, taking care of our families, working, all these things keep us busy. Time goes by so fast and before we know it, it seems like we’re ten years older than we were yesterday. As I get older, I crave God’s Word more and more. I can’t start my day without Him. I have seen so much how the

The New Year’s Resolution

Oh, the dreaded New Year’s resolution. We start to set impossible, unattainable goals for ourselves. We have dreams of achieving things with good intentions in mind, with no real sure plan of action. Then of course we fall short. We go in full force on January 1st. By February 1st, we’re done. Eating right, losing weight, exercising, these seem to be the most popular resolutions that we fail with. We put expectations on ourselves and when we don’t see immediate results, we quit. We want things easy, we want instant

Sweet Sounds of Christmas

As Christmas grows closer, the laughter and excitement grows. Anticipating special times with family and friends. Making new memories. Enjoying the parades. The sights and sounds of Christmas. I enjoy listening to all of the Christmas music. I love all of the traditional Christmas songs that I grew up listening to. I love all of the recent songs from the past few years. There are so many different Christmas shows on television. It’s hard to get the opportunity through the work week, but on my days off, I have to watch at least one or maybe two Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel (or one of the other channels). I prefer the light-

I’ve Got You!

Don’t worry, I’ve got you! We tend to forget that when things are hectic, but God holds us close. He doesn’t want us to worry about things. So, why do we? I trust God, I have faith in God. I know that He’s in control. So, what gives? Satan is very present in our world, he definitely tries to get the upper hand on us, especially when we feel a little under pressure.

Don’t Quit

Whatever it is that you find joy in doing, if it’s healthy and benefits you, or someone else, don’t quit. Whatever talent or skill you have at your disposal, use it. Sometimes we think we have nothing to offer. Actually, we all have something to offer that can benefit someone else. If you think you don’t, then you probably haven’t searched hard enough, or you may feel like what you have to offer doesn’t matter. IT MATTERS!! We’re all in constant learning mode, if we just pay attention. What comes so easy to one person

Giving It Over to God

As a child of God, I am so blessed that I have a Savior that I can take anything to and know that He will take care of me. He understands everything about me. He knew all of the trials I would face. He knows all of the obstacles that block my way. He knows all of the pressures that I am under. He knows the confrontations that are so tough for me to get through. He knows when I get scared and worried. He knows the things I can handle and He knows the things I cannot handle. All He asks me to do is just give it over to Him and trust

Change

Well, I’ve been battling a cold this week, I think I’m finally on the flip-side of it. Time for a change. Mr. Cold has to hit the bricks and get out! Sometimes we have to slow our bodies down to rest. When we try to keep pushing through things when we’re sick, I don’t think we’re listening to God. He’s trying to tell us something. SLOW down! Stop trying to be in control of everything and just give it to Him! We don’t have to worry about things, He’s going to provide. When I have to call into work, I feel guilty, because it’s so much

Ordinary People

Do you ever look at someone else and think, “Wow, that person really has it all together.” Their hair is done just right. They dress very nice. They talk very smart. They have achieved a status that I could never achieve. But, that’s not true. Underneath, they are just ordinary people like you and me. Sometimes the people we assume have it all together, are the ones hurting the most, and don’t have anything together. I am learning that whatever walk of life we come from, that we are all just ordinary people looking for a place to fit in.

Fitting In (But Where?)

As an adolescent growing up, I often felt those feelings of awkwardness and loneliness, like I just didn’t fit in. I was one of those kids that was always chosen last, or just considered a weak link. In my case, those feelings and patterns of life still creep in at times. As time went by, eventually (although it took a very long time), I was able to build confidence and strength through maturity and developing healthy relationships.

When my relationship with God started growing, I started growing. I was no longer searching for a place to fit in, He holds the perfect spot for me. There are definitely times when I am out of my comfort zone. I have

Waiting

WHAT? Waiting is definitely not my strong suit. Not waiting has got me into quite a few unfortunate circumstances that ultimately lead to disaster. God has had to put the brakes on and slow me down more than a few times in my life. I tend to get impatient for something I want to happen and I don’t wait on God’s direction in the situation. I’ve learned a few things along this journey. God knows what I need. He knows what weighs heavy on my heart. When I don’t wait on Him, I miss His blessings. I have to relax and
